In order to prepare an additive-free sample with a MgH 2 phase 90 wt Mg 10 wt MgH 2 (named Mg-10MgH 2) was milled under hydrogen atmosphere in a planetary ball mill for different durations (2 h 5 h and 10 h).The hydrogen absorption and release properties of the prepared samples were investigated and compared with those of purchased pure MgH 2 samples.
